n. Ancient Geek slang. From ankie (derivative of "anklebiter", or neophyte) and m0e (code: member-zero-access).
Etym.: Circa late 1980's, a new or unestablished member of a realtime BBS chatboard accessed with a d-dial modem carrying between 300 and 14,400 bps, who also used an unpaid guest account with limited privileges. A virtual-reality virgin in uncharted cyberspace. Was also used as cover by well-known members in order to post !sarcastic or ~controversial~ comments, in the days before web browsers and IP trackers even existed.
This, quite frankly, is my account for the comments that would never escape my lips otherwise. Snark therapy for the terminally nice. (Here, have a marshmallow for that flame.) It's also for commenting on things that deserve a holler of support. (Huzzah!)
